Château d'Oupia
Château d’Oupia has been in the hands of the Iché family since 1860 and André Iche was in charge since 1969. Since he passed away in October 2007, the vinyard is now run by his daughter. He now has 53 hectares around the village of Oupia, just outside Olonzac, and further north at La Caunette, including some 100 year old vines. The Ichés are of the “old school” wine making stock and very traditional in their approach. Their winemaking equipment is stored in a barn across the road from their village house. André’s wines are made in extremely small quantities and he has a reputation for respecting the Minervois terroir and tradition and making wines of extraordinary quality.

Château de Oupia - Tradition / 2006 / Red
£ 7.75
This wine is made in the traditional way without any wood or carbonic maceration. It shows the rugged, almost rustic, flavours of Carignan with the scents and herbs of the garrigue, giving soft and supple fruit and a spicy finish. Learn More
Château de Oupia - Les Barons / 2006 / Red
£ 9.95
This cuvée, first made in 1985, is mostly aged in wood (for a year) and includes some carbonic maceration for the Carignan, blended after malolactic fermentation. It will age very well as the young wine is packed with ripe, oaky vanilla flavours with a backbone of tannin. Learn More
