Domaine des Soulanes - Sarrat del Mas / 2007 / Red
Quick Overview
This wine is aged in French oak barriques and displays delicious spicy dark fruit and smooth tannins. Like all the wines of Domaine Soulanes the wine has not been filtered or fined and can develop a deposit so decanting is recommended. Being a dense and very concentrated wine it would be the perfect match to meat dishes such as boeuf en daube or boeuf bourgignon.
Domaine Description
Daniel and Cathy Lafitte are the perfect winemaking partnership: Daniel makes the wine and Cathy supports him with the admin and marketing as well as helping out in the vineyard. They own 17 hectares of vines around Mas Amiel in the district of Tautavel, the latest acquisition being a small vineyard named “le pantalon”. Daniel and Cathy bought the domaine in the late nineties after working with the previous owner and Daniel’s step father for 15 years and renamed it Domaine des Soulanes (a Soulane is a south/south east facing hillside). Memorable wines from a delightful couple.
