Domaine de la Madura - La Madura Grand Vin / 2001 / White
Quick Overview
With grapes from the same vineyard as the Classic, this wine is aged in barriques for ten months, adding a certain complexity. The nose is intense and suggests white flowers and peaches, along with vanilla. And if you’re lucky enough to get the chance, it’s perfect with Nadine’s Blanquette de Veau.
Domaine Description
“We bought Domaine de la Madura for its wonderful cépage and terroir, not for our own comfort and convenience.” So say Cyril and Nadia Bourgne. After being cellar master at Château de Fieuzal in Bordeaux, Cyril Bourgne returned to his roots with his wife Nadia in the Languedoc. Convinced by the quality of the terroirs of Domaine de la Madura, they bought a mosaic of land parcels on the outskirts of the town. Through determination, passion and sheer hard work, the couple have overcome many obstacles to capitalise on their vineyard’s great diversity of soil types, altitude, exposure and grape varieties. Despite being the most recently established on our list, they have more press cuttings and complimentary reviews than many others. Try them and see.
