Quick Overview

A luscious, concentrated wine first with hints of black pepper and tapenade that give way to garrigue herbs, ripened fruit and figs. Again produced from hand-picked grapes from vines in this case on the limestone and clay plateau of the Petit Causse. At least 13 months maturation with a third in oak. Perfect with lamb - a marriage made in heaven.

Domaine Description

“The wine cellar is the wizard’s den. Here we don’t manipulate, perform tricks or meddle. We just have a stubborn desire to reveal in the wine vat the true nature of Borie de Maurel”

In 1989 Michel Lescande gave up his passion for sailing in order to move inland with his wife Sylvie. They borrowed sufficient money to buy 5 hectares of vines, a wine cellar and a run-down house on the edge of the village of Felines Minervois. Michel learned about his land and listened until he understood that he was in possession of a real treasure. This showed from the first cuvées of Sylla which caught the attention of the international press who named him “the wizard of Felines”.

Now, this considerable estate of some 35 hectares is one of the leading domaines in the Minervois and in particular the Minervois cru La Livinière.

Borie de Maurel leads the way in its total commitment to producing wines of exceptional quality.
