Clot de L'Oum - La Compagnie des Papillons /2004 / Red
Quick Overview
A blend of Grenache and Carignan from old vines, on gneiss soils. Peppery spicy fruit, with ripe, supple tannins and good length. Attractive mineral flavours, which develop over several hours.
Domaine Description
This is another very recent addition to our list from the Roussillon region and what a find it is! Eric Monné’s vineyards are on the hillside slopes above Maury and Belesta, with a stunning view from the cellars across the Agly valley. The higher, cooler climate slopes at 400 to 500 metres above sea level give wines of a class and minerality almost reminiscent of the Northern Rhône. The fine and elegant wines are all made using organic methods and Eric will be starting to experiment with biodynamic methods this year.
