Domaine Faillenc Sainte-Marie Rouge / 2006 / Red
Quick Overview
This is a wine with enormous character showing a powerful and complex nose of voilets, spice and undergrowth. A rounded palate and delightful concentration and balance.
Domaine Description
Faillenc Sainte Marie is a small property, with only eight hectares of vineyards stubbornly clinging to the rocky foothills of Mont Alaric. The vineyards are battered by the north-westerly Tramontane wind or the southerly Autan breezes coming off the Mediterranean creating an extremely dry climate. The charming, quirky personality, sense of humor and creativity of Dominique Gibert, as well as the sensitive and diligent vineyard work of his wife, Marie-Therese Gibert, also mark these wines, both in their style and in their names and labels. The domaine is now run by their very capable son, Jean-Baptiste, who played a major part in the design of the very artistic labels. Yields are low and the wines are certified as organic.
