Quick Overview

This is a particularly luscious wine with a dosage that imparts a fat, even rich, style with honeyed peach and apple. Its fine mousse gives a certain elegance making it a splendid aperitif with canapés or with added crème de cassis for a decadent Kir Royal.

Domaine Description

Pierre Robert believes passionately in the Méthode Ancestrale and makes one of the best examples although most of his AOC production is now by Méthode Traditionnelle. It’s more fascinating to tour the chais at all stages of the process with a producer like this, who has grown all the grapes himself, than to see a Champagne house in Reims. In 1937, Pierre Robert came from Montlaur in Corbières and started with 1.5h of Mauzac. Since 1957, when his sons decided to return to Pieusse, he’s transformed his estate with noble white vines – Chardonnay, Mauzac and Chenin Blanc. His Crémant won a gold medal at the Concours General Agricole in Paris in 1998.
