Clos Centeilles / 2000 / Red / Magnum
Quick Overview
The aim with this wine was to produce an up front and fruit driven cuvée. With a wonderful nose of fruit, cocoa and spices and overtones of aromatic herbs and leather, the palate is soft, rounded and bursting with fruit. Also available in magnums.
Domaine Description
Patricia and Daniel Domergue’s Christmas 2001 newsletter entitled “Clos Centeilles and the whirlwind of fashion” expressed a strong allegiance to ‘terroir and tradition’, an unwillingness to compromise by following fashion and a respect for the identity, quality and tradition of Languedoc wines - not just the ambition to make money from them. Professor Daniel Domergue is a wine scholar cum winemaker who regrets bitterly the demise in status of the Cinsault grape. In his view, true Languedoc style is not represented by the huge black and over-oaked wines made by some estates but rather wines that are true to the terroir that speak and shows their quality through their grapes.
