Clos Centeilles - Capitelle de Centeilles / 2000 / Red
Quick Overview
This wine undergoes ‘obsessive’ pigeage, fully expressing its nobility. With silky, delicate tannins and fruit, it’s a wine of great elegance, richness and complexity.
Domaine Description
Patricia and Daniel Domergue’s Christmas 2001 newsletter entitled “Clos Centeilles and the whirlwind of fashion” expressed a strong allegiance to ‘terroir and tradition’, an unwillingness to compromise by following fashion and a respect for the identity, quality and tradition of Languedoc wines - not just the ambition to make money from them. Professor Daniel Domergue is a wine scholar cum winemaker who regrets bitterly the demise in status of the Cinsault grape. In his view, true Languedoc style is not represented by the huge black and over-oaked wines made by some estates but rather wines that are true to the terroir that speak and shows their quality through their grapes.
